Stedin Group issues new €500 million green bond

Rotterdam, 23 October 2025 – Stedin Group has successfully issued a new €500 million green bond. The proceeds will be invested in the expansion and reinforcement of the electricity grid to facilitate the energy transition. Since 2019, green bonds have been the primary source of financing for the grid operator. To date, Stedin Group has issued a total of €3 billion in green bonds.

The €500 million bond has a maturity of 7 years, an issue price of 99.491%, and a coupon rate of 3.00% (yielding an effective interest rate of 3.082%). With this issuance, Stedin Group has attracted both existing and new sustainable investors. The bond was nearly four times oversubscribed, contributing to the favorable terms under which it was issued. The bond is listed on Euronext Amsterdam under ISIN code XS3218684101.

Annual Investment Growth

This year, Stedin is investing a record amount of approximately €1.3 billion in its gas and electricity networks. This figure will continue to grow over the next few years. These investments are essential not only to enable the energy transition but also to support the expanding economy and housing development. At the same time, maintenance is carried out to ensure the networks remain reliable and safe.

CFO Jaap Verhoeff: "With the issuance of this green bond, we are taking an important step toward enabling the energy transition. The investments we make in a future-proof grid are financed through both revenues and new debt issuances, such as this green bond. We are pleased with the strong interest investors have shown in our company. The proceeds will be used to further expand the electricity grid in line with the growing demand for sustainable energy."

Green Finance Framework

The proceeds from this green bond will be allocated to a broad range of sustainable projects, including the connection of new solar parks to the electricity grid and enabling the decarbonization of businesses and residential properties. These initiatives empower our customers to reduce their own CO₂ emissions—an essential pillar of Stedin’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy. The issuance of this green bond is based on the updated Green Finance Framework published in September 2025.
